But for the believer, we have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us, as a helper, nudging us and teaching us what to say and what not to say. Much like a filter; He sifts our mind and helps keep us in check.
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in
my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have
said to you. John 14:26
What’s the purpose of the Holy Spirit? Why does He
“run interference”? He is teaching us to become more like Christ.
It can be difficult to wrap our brains around the
fact that God loves us so much that He takes up residence inside our hearts. Even
when we mess up, when something shoots out of our mouth that doesn’t honor Him,
He will forgive us if we ask. His grace covers us and His love fills us, so
that we, too, can forgive others who say things that hurt us.
It seems the least we can do for the Lord while we
are here in these mortal bodies is to honor Him. We do that by spending time
with Him and in His word, worshipping Him, and glorifying Him with our
thoughts, words, and actions.
May your heart beat for Christ alone, for He is worthy....
In
a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power
and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Revelation 5:12
